Our new postdoc, Jess Gronniger, joined the lab in November. It’s great to have her here! She will be working on understanding how ecological factors drive coexistence in aquatic microbial communities.
We are thrilled to have Denisse Larin-Henriquez join the lab group as a Research Associate and Lab Manager. She joined in October, and has already been a great help.

Leonora’s proposal for an NSF CAREER award has been funded! See abstract here. This program funds “the National Science Foundation's most prestigious awards in support of early-career faculty who have the potential to serve as academic role models in research and education and to lead advances in the mission of their department or organization.” Looking forward to some fun research projects and integrated research and education over the next 5 years!
Leonora presented some of Jessica’s PhD work at the ASM Microbe conference in Houston.
We have new undergraduate students joining the lab from the Bridges to Baccalaureate (B2B) and Student Authentic Research Experience (SARE) programs! Welcome to Paula Alvarez, Chadwick DeFehr, Holly Morrison, Siena Fox and Mauricio Nava. Looking forward to a summer of fun science and learning.
